Book Announcement and Happy Thanksgiving 2022

Happy Wednesday Scribblers. I want to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving (for those here in the US), and I want to share all the things I am thankfully for. Also, today I want to share my good friend, Glenn Quigley’s, newest holiday short story coming out on December 20, 2022; The Great Santa Showdown.

I want to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving, no matter how you are spending this day (and the weekend) I hope you get to take some time for yourself and be in the moment. Enjoy those you have around you, or enjoy the piece and quiet. As with this same time last year we all need to take these moments and be thankful for all the small things we have in our lives. This year I want to share all the things I’m thankful for:

  • My husband Eric, it’s hard to believe this year will be 24 years, but it is and I couldn’t be more pleased that we have had all these wonderful years together.

  • My Family, they can work each and ever nerve I have at times, but I’m thankful for each and every one of them.

  • My Friends, friendship is so important and I’m so blessed to have so many good friends in my life. It’s been great reconnecting with so many of them over the last few months. It’s been wonderful.

  • My home, it may not be the best place in the world but I like it and I’m thankful we have it.

  • My job, I have a great boss who I respect and have enjoyed working with all these years. For me it’s not about the work, but the people.

  • My writing, with each year that passes I find I love my writing more and more and I can’t imagine my life without it.

  • My health, I’ve lost about 70 pounds (or about 32kg). I can’t say I’m feeling any different then I did before I lost all the weight, but I look a lot better, so that is a big win.

  • Being able to travel, it has been so nice to travel again. We haven’t traveled as much as we used to, but we still take our trips and I’m looking forward to doing more in the coming year.

  • All the little things, there are so many small things I’m grateful for that I can’t name them all, but I’m very grateful for all of them.

What are you thankful for? If you’d like to share below I would love read it.

Now on to the book announcement. My good friend Glenn Quigley (learn more here), has a new holiday short story coming out: The Great Santa Showdown. The short story is up for preorder now (find it here) and will be out on December 10, 2022. Here is a bit about the short story.

A little town needs a big Santa, and both John and Gregory are ready to prove they’ve got what it takes. This Christmas, it’s time to sleigh the competition!

It's two weeks before Christmas and the official Santa Claus of the small town of Yuleboro is retiring. Bookstore owner Gregory has long dreamed of taking over the role. However, he's not the only one, as tree farmer John has been waiting his whole life for this opportunity. Alongside a host of other competitors, they’ll battle their way through a tournament designed to test the skills of any would-be Kris Kringles, and find it takes more than a belly and a beard to wear the red suit. And as Gregory and John go head-to-head in the first-ever Great Santa Showdown, it's not just the competition that heats up!

THE GREAT SANTA SHOWDOWN is a cozy short story inspired by watching way too many Hallmark movies and wondering why nobody ever falls for the gorgeous, cuddly Santa Claus. Gregory and John are in their sixties, both are bearded, burly, single, and gay. The setting is the small, all-American town of Yuleboro, where they do the holidays right. From Dasher’s Diner, to Sinterklaas Square, to Santa’s Jolly Olde Lodge, the whole town is a festive wonderland. So pull on your favorite sweater, pour yourself a cup of hot chocolate, and settle in for one great big bear hug of a story!

That’s all for now. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and until next time, have a great week.

Book Announcement and Happy Thanksgiving 2021

Happy Wednesday Scribblers, two quick things this week, cause I’m sure (if you are here in the US) you are busy getting ready for turkey day… or you are already exhausted and in need of a nap.

I want to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving, no matter how you are spending this day (and the weekend) I hope you get to take some time for yourself and be in the moment. Enjoy those you have around you, or enjoy the piece and quiet. It’s been another crazy year and we all need to take these moments and be thankful for all the small things we have in our lives. An author friend of mine posts what he is thankful for each day, I thought I would barrow that idea and share a few things I’m thankful for, so here goes, these are the things I’m thankful for:

  • My husband Eric, how that man tolerates me on the daily I’ll never know.

  • My Family, they can work each and ever nerve I have at times, but I’m thankful for each and every one of them.

  • My home, we have a nice place to live and it may not be a mansion, but it’s home and I love it.

  • My job, I have a great boss who I respect and have enjoyed working with all these years. For me it’s not about the work, but the people.

  • My writing, I’ve had ups and downs and there are a lot of things I would love to change about it, but my writing has given me a wonderful creative outlet.

  • My health, this year has been a bit rocky, but I’m still waking up and I’m still breathing so I count that as a big win.

  • Being able to travel, Eric and I love to travel and through it all we continue to take trips and I’m so blessed to be in a position where we can do that.

  • All the little things, there are so many small things I’m grateful for that I can’t name them all, but I’m very grateful for all of them.

What are you thankful for? If you’d like to share below I would love read it.

Now on to the book announcement. An author friend of mine Lee Colgin, recently released a new novel: Mongrel. Here is a bit about it.

  • A misfit werewolf

  • A guilt-ridden vampire

  • A chilling mystery…

Mongrel, a creature more wolf than man, leads a lonely life on the fringes of pack society—until the night a handsome vampire shows up with a mysterious request.

Bowie, a vampire cursed to a life of endless nights, maintains close ties with his human family. When young girls in their village go missing, he must act quickly. But to find them, he’ll need to convince the local werewolf pack to loan him their best tracker—a wolf known as the Mongrel.

Though he hates the slur, Andras is used to being called Mongrel. When Bowie refuses to refer to him by anything but his given name, Andras can’t help a flicker of unexpected trust toward the stranger. He volunteers to help Bowie, risking banishment.

Can two tenderhearted men overcome their traumatic pasts and work together to rescue the girls before it’s too late? Or will the world’s most prolific killer snuff the flames of their passion along with the lives of the captives?

This steamy love story spans the country of Hungary as Andras and Bowie journey to right a villain’s wicked wrongs.

Mongrel features a sweetly possessive werewolf, a cinnamon roll of a vampire, and the worst killer in history. A surprisingly fluffy MM Paranormal/Historical Romance considering the subject matter.

HEA guaranteed with loads of laughs along the way and no cliffhanger ending!

The Week Before Thanksgiving

sad.jpg

It’s the week before Thanksgiving (for us here in the US) which at its end marks the start of the Christmas Season (which actually started back in October) and… ugh. I’m not feeling it this year. If I’m honest I don’t want any part of it. I don’t want to be bothered with Thanksgiving and I definitely don’t want to bother with Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for the year I’ve had. I have so much to be thankful for and I don’t want to every sound ungrateful. Regardless, I’m not feeling any of it.

Could it be all the political crap still going on? How crappy people are treating each other, both on-line and in public? Possibly. There seems to be so much crap (this post is also a drinking game to see how many times I say the word ‘crap’) going on and despite all the encouraging things happening there is, sadly, so much negativity to go along with it. Why? This can’t be only me feeling this way? Can it?

Now, I realize that I’ll get out of my pre-holiday funk and things will turn around. In that vein, I want to share all the positive things that have happened for me this year:

  • I released my debut novel, The Calling.

  • I’ve received positive reviews for The Calling.

  • The Calling is in the top 150 Best Vampire Books by a new Author.

  • The Calling is in the top 100 Best Gay Vampire Books.

  • I’ve made great Author Friends this year.

  • I’ve gotten to know some wonderful fans who have been supportive of my writing.

  • My two short stories The Reunion and A Dragon for Christmas have done well and people seem to enjoy them.

  • After fourteen years, I finally got a new car. Yay!

  • The agency TV I worked on, Change Lives for Good, was a finalist for the CreaTV Awards.

  • Eric and I had a wonderful cruise to Mexico.

  • A New World – Contact was picked up by my publisher.

  • T.A.D. – The Angel of Death was picked up by my publisher.

  • We spent some amazing time with Family and Friends this year.

  • Eric and I had a fantastic week in Hawaii for my birthday.

  • We got our Bathroom remodeled.

Positive 2.jpg

There has been a lot for me to be thankful for, even putting this list together has improved my mood, which is another thing I’m grateful for. I think, like many of us, this crap happening around me has bogged me down which has taken my focus off all the wonderful things that have happened and continue to happen all around me.

Maybe, that is something we all need to do. Keep a list of all the positive things that have happened to us and continue to happen to us and not let the crap steal the spotlight and take away our sunshine.

Thank you for allowing me a moment to whine and focus my thoughts. Reminding me that, yes, there is a lot a crap in the world, but overall things are good and life has provided me and my husband some wonderful moments. If you want to share some positive events your year has shown you I would love to read them. You can do it in the comments section below. The more we can focus on the good the better off I think we all will be. Remember, you can like and share this blog (or any of my blog posts below).

Until next time, have a great week Scribblers (oh, and, if you were counting I said ‘crap’ eight times).

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year for Thanksgiving I simply want to wish you all the very best.  I wanted to share some of the things I’m grateful for:

This has been an amazing year for me and I’m very grateful NineStar Press is publishing three of my works.  I hope in this next year I will continue to be as blessed.

I have a wonderful and supportive husband who has stood by me through all the ups-and-downs this year.  I couldn’t have done any of this without him.

Along with a wonderful husband, I have amazing friends who have been pushing me along this year, helping, and supporting me.  Especially Linda and Caroline.

This year has been a mixed bag of health issues for our extended families and I’m very grateful that everyone is doing well and pushing through all their health issues.  I’m especially thankful that both Eric and I remain healthy.

Mostly I’m very grateful for all the wonderful opportunities that I have been afforded this year.

In closing, I want to share some Thanksgiving quotes:
